Flag of Greater Manchester : ウィキペディア英語版 | Flag of Greater Manchester
The Flag of Greater Manchester is the unofficial flag of the metropolitan county of Greater Manchester in England. It is not registered with the Flag Institute, which will not register flags for counties other than for historic counties. As a flag representing a county it is given special legal status by the UK Flag Flying Regulations. The flag is currently used very little if at all within the ceremonial county. Most use the Flag of Lancashire as the county is formed from the historic county and as part of the dispute over boroughs still being part of Lancashire. ==History== The flag derives from the shield and crest design on the coat of arms of Greater Manchester; the design itself is used by a number of organisations that represent the Greater Manchester area, such as the former Greater Manchester County Council, the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, and the Greater Manchester Army Cadet Force, all of which use ten golden towers on a red background to represent the ten metropolitan boroughs.
